A shocking incident took place late Sunday night on Dayton Pike, Chattanooga, Tenn., resulting in the untimely demise of a 58-year-old pedestrian. The local Police were promptly called to the scene in the 7000 block of Dayton Pike, just after midnight, following a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a fatal incident had occurred. A 58-year-old woman, whose identity is withheld for privacy reasons, was found deceased at the scene. More details about the woman will follow as family and loved ones are appropriately notified.
The initial investigation indicates that a vehicle was traveling northbound on Dayton Pike with a 63-year-old man behind the wheel. According to the investigators, the pedestrian unexpectedly entered the roadway where she was subsequently struck. The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was later revealed to be a Toyota Tundra. Following the incident, the driver, a 63-year-old male, was located and further details are being investigated. However, it is unclear at the moment whether charges have been filed or if the driver was arrested.
