Chattanooga, TN — The Chattanooga Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Thursday morning on Rossville Boulevard.
Authorities responded at 4:24 a.m. to reports of shots fired in the 3700 block of Rossville Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found a 61-year-old man inside his pickup truck, suffering from life-threatening gunshot injuries. The Nissan Frontier was stopped at an intersection when the victim was shot by an individual from another vehicle.
The responding officers administered life-saving measures until emergency medical services arrived. The man was then transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Both the Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS were present at the scene.
The CPD Homicide Unit and the Crime Scene Unit were called to carry out a detailed investigation and process the crime scene. According to early findings, the suspect fired at the victim from a separate vehicle before fleeing the scene.
