As a devoted member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Dorothy brought joy to many by singing in the church choir. Her voice was a source of comfort and a celebration of faith shared with her fellow congregation members. Active in the Community
In addition to her church involvement, Dorothy actively participated in various local organizations. She was a proud member of the Scenic City Friends, the C.P.W. Sunshine Club, and the Pioneers of Telephone Company, which is a retiree club. Each of these groups played a role in nurturing her spirit and passion for community engagement. White, as well as her parents, Ernest and Athene Parker, her son, Larry White, and her sister, Mary Katherine Saylors. However, Dorothy’s legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her son, Lamar (Rita Wirth) White, along with two daughters-in-law, Janice White and Carolyn White. Her family also includes two cherished grandchildren, Brooke (Richard) Henderson and Shawn Ellison, and three adorable great-grandchildren: Heath Henderson, Sadie Henderson, and Gracie Ellison.
Final Farewell
The community will gather to honor Dorothy’s life during funeral services scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga. The service will be officiated by Dr. R. Courtney Krueger. Visitation will take place from 1 PM to 3 PM at the church, allowing friends and family to share their memories and celebrate a life well-lived.
Following the service, Dorothy will be interred at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024. The family invites everyone to join them in reflecting on the beautiful memories they shared with Dorothy.
