American Queen Voyages Suspends Operations
In a recent development, American Queen Voyages, a prominent riverboat cruise line that has been anchoring at Chattanooga’s riverfront for years, has suspended all of its operations. The company, which is renowned for its paddleboat riverboat services, has also cancelled all future river cruises. This drastic move has come as the company is actively seeking a buyer to take over its assets.
American Queen Voyages recently placed a notice on their website stating, “Despite great efforts by our team, crew, and partners, American Queen Voyages, unfortunately, has been unable to rebound from the effects of the pandemic. The overnight cruise industry was especially affected by changes in travel preferences and, as a result, AQV has become financially unsustainable.”
Cancellation of Future Cruises
In addition to suspending its operations, the cruise line further announced that it is shutting down its business effectively, and “all future AQV cruises have been cancelled.” This includes the company’s renowned cruises on the Tennessee River, with frequent stops at Chattanooga’s Ross’s Landing.
