Chattanooga Resident Receives 25-year Sentence for Second-Degree Murder

Defendant Pleads Guilty in Plea Deal

A Chattanooga man, Daques De’l Davis, 26, was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Thursday for the second-degree murder of Kendale Storey. Davis, who shot Storey and continued to empty his firearm into the victim after he had fallen to the ground, had pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

As she took the stand, Storey’s mother, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke directly to Davis. “I really hate that you put yourself in this position because I lost my son, and your family lost theirs, too“, she lamented. Expressing her disappointment with the plea deal, she stated that the sentence didn’t equate to the permanent loss of her son.

Facts of the Case

During the hearing, prosecutors presented the chronology of events. On May 19, 2022, Davis, along with his girlfriend and pet dog, Assassin, had visited the duck pond at East Lake Park. At some point, Davis locked his keys inside his car and was unable to retrieve them. Upon returning home, Davis’s girlfriend informed prosecutors that Davis’ anger had been evident following the incident. Shortly, he left their residence with a T
