Freight Brokerage Giant TQL Sets Up New Shop in Downtown Chattanooga
In an exciting development for Chattanooga’s thriving logistics industry, Total Quality Logistics (TQL), the second-largest freight brokerage firm in North America, is establishing its presence in the city center. Embarking on a strategic expansion plan, the Cincinnati-based logistics giant has leased a substantial portion of the 14th floor of the downtown Truist building at 736 Market St.
Creating Local Jobs
According to information provided by TQL spokesperson Molly Koweek, Chattanooga was chosen for TQL’s new office due to its strategic importance as a transportation hub and its impressive pool of local talent. With its new office, TQL aims to establish a local team of 80-100 workers, further advancing its industry dominance in the Tennessee region.
A Thriving Business Empire
The establishment of a Chattanooga office is not TQL’s first foray into the Tennessee market. It has already established offices in Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville within the past decade. Employing over 100 employees in Nashville and more than 250 between the Memphis and Knoxville offices, TQL has made considerable headway in the local logistics industry.
Boost to Chattanooga’s ‘Freight Alley’
The arrival of TQL is expected to invigorate Chattanooga’s logistics industry, colloquially known as ‘Freight Alley’. Craig Fuller, CEO of FreightWaves, noted in a recent interview Chattanooga’s reputation as a hotbed of logistics entrepreneurship has contributed to its growing dominance in the global logistics sphere.
A Growing Global Presence
In addition to its network of over 60 offices across the U.S., the new Chattanooga office will add to the more than 9,000 employees currently under the TQL umbrella. Despite its already stellar workforce, the company is looking to expand further by hiring sales representatives in the Chattanooga office. This move suggests TQL’s commitment to tapping into local insights as part of their broader strategy in the global supply chain.
