Cloudy Skies and Calm Communities: A Look at the Lakeway Area

Good morning, Lakeway Area! As we gear up for a cozy weekend, it seems we’re in for a bit of a rainy treat. With a high of 72°F expected today, the clouds have started rolling in, and they’re carrying with them an 80% chance of rain this afternoon. So, make sure you grab your umbrella if you plan on venturing outside!

Weather Forecast Update

As the light rain makes its way into our area early today, it’s forecasted to stay cloudy, turning into a steady shower overnight, with temperatures dropping to a low of 62°F. Winds will remain light and variable, which is a nice change from the strong gusts we’ve seen in past storms. Please keep an eye on the weather if you have any evening plans and stay safe!

Hurricane Helene’s Aftermath

Meanwhile, communities across our beloved Lakeway Area continue to deal with the fallout from Hurricane Helene. Though we didn’t face the brunt of the storm like those further south, the effects are still quite noticeable. Local agencies are working hard to assist those affected, and it’s heartwarming to see residents banding together to help each other out. If you’re looking for ways to lend a hand, consider reaching out to local organizations that are providing support and resources.

Exciting News from Morristown

On a brighter note, there’s a lovely news story out of Morristown to share! Ashlynn Amato-Martinez and Johathan welcomed their new daughter, Magnolia Grace Martinez, into the world on May 21, 2024. Weighing in at 6 lbs., 10 oz., little Magnolia is already stealing hearts! Proud grandparents Dawn Amato, Tom Amato, and J.J. Hoover must be over the moon. Congratulations to the happy family!

Community Events to Check Out

This weekend, don’t miss out on the fun at the Rose Center in Morristown as they’re hosting a “Punks” themed evening. It’s always nice to see our local venues buzzing with activity, and this should be an exciting event for all ages! Whether you’re a fan of the punk scene or just in need of some good old community spirit, this event promises to bring people together.

In Loving Memory

In a softer note, we remember Paul Matthew “Matt” Oliver, age 37, of Morristown, who sadly passed away on September 24, 2024. A cherished member of the Cross Road Baptist Church in Seymour, he leaves behind a community that deeply cared about him. Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this challenging time.
