Chattanooga Community Remembers Two Lost Souls

Chattanooga, Tennessee – This past week, the Chattanooga community faced the bittersweet reality of loss as they bid farewell to two cherished residents: Donald “Donnie” H. Jones and Joan Fawber Musser. Both individuals touched the lives of many, and their legacies will surely remain alive in the hearts of those who knew them.

Celebrating the Life of Donnie Jones

Donald “Donnie” H. Jones sadly passed away on September 28, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on March 29, 1954, in Chattanooga, Donnie was a well-known figure in the community. For over 30 years, he dedicated himself to his work at Bowater Southern Paper Mill, where he was respected and admired by his fellow employees.

Donnie was a devoted member of Morris Hill Baptist Church, where he participated actively and made many meaningful connections. His faith and dedication were significant parts of his identity, fostering relationships that would last a lifetime.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Cindy Jones, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they raised two wonderful sons: Tommy (married to Jenni) and Jonathan (married to Amber). The family bond was enriched with the arrival of their beloved grandson, Jackson Jones, who was undoubtedly a source of joy for Donnie.

Donnie is survived by his brother, Lewis Jones, and sister, Debbie Rayburn, along with several nieces and nephews. They all reside within the Chattanooga area and share fond memories of Donnie that will forever remain with them.

The graveside service is set for 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, at Calhoun Community Cemetery in Calhoun, Tennessee. Pastor Bill Mason will officiate the ceremony, which promises to be a heartfelt tribute to a man who was a friend, husband, father, and grandfather. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m., allowing a time for those who knew Donnie to share their condolences and celebrate his life together.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to either Morris Hill Baptist Church or the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, giving back to the community Donnie loved so much.
