Chattanooga Rallies Together to Support Those Affected by Hurricane Helene
Hey there, Chattanooga! As we all know, our community is known for its deep-rooted compassion and willingness to lend a helping hand. Right now, many folks down in Asheville, North Carolina, and various parts of Northeast Tennessee are facing tough challenges after the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. But guess what? Chattanooga is stepping up in a big way!

If you’re wondering how you can pitch in and support your fellow neighbors during this difficult time, we’ve got some great ideas for you. Let’s come together and show what our little city can do when it comes to goodwill and kindness!
1. Operation Good Neighbor
First up is Operation Good Neighbor. If you’ve got bottled water, diapers, non-perishable food items, or any monetary donations, head on over to your nearest Food City location in Ringgold, Hixson, or Cleveland. They’ve set a drop-off deadline of Wednesday, October 2 at 7 p.m.. Every little bit helps the community in Asheville, so let’s make our presence felt!
2. YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga
Looking to contribute some essential items? The YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga is making a final call today—October 2—for donations of bottled water, batteries, portable phone chargers, and flashlights. Swing by your local branch and lend a hand to our friends in Erwin!
3. Asheville Dispensary
How about supporting your neighbors in Asheville directly? The Asheville Dispensary is accepting donations of bottled water, hygiene items, baby supplies, clothes, and much more until Friday, October 4. There’s no better time to tidy up your closet while helping those in need!
4. Chattanooga State Community College
Students and staff at ChattState, listen up! You can bring bottled water to the athletics parking lot by Thursday, October 3. Your contributions will aid residents of Northeast Tennessee—let’s show up in numbers!
5. Mad Priest Coffee Roasters
How does a free cup of coffee sound? Drop off non-perishable food items at the Mad Priest Coffee Roasters on Broad Street by Saturday, October 5, and you’ll score a delicious free coffee in return! What a win-win!
6. The Meeting House
If hygiene items, cleaning supplies, or even checks are sitting in your home, The Meeting House is eager to take them off your hands. Make sure to drop off your donations by Friday, October 4, and help those in Tennessee and North Carolina.
7. Gearhead Outfitters
Last but certainly not least, Gearhead Outfitters (formerly known as Rock/Creek) is asking for donations like fuel, batteries, water, first aid kits, and blankets at all their locations. The final drop-off date is Saturday, October 5, to assist Ashevillians and nearby communities.
