The brainchild behind this comedy extravaganza is Donnie Marsh, who started the festival back in 2018. Donnie came up with the idea after realizing there was a gap in Chattanooga’s entertainment scene when it came to comedy. What started as an entrepreneurial class project—believe it or not, it was invite-only at first—has blossomed into an annual event that draws talent from coast to coast.
Donnie, who ventured into stand-up comedy himself at the age of 35, shared that he initially thought that Chattanooga’s comedy scene was nonexistent. “When I first moved here, I thought there wasn’t a comedy scene,” he recalls. “You can see really top-tier talents and performers in Chattanooga.” And that, folks, is what this festival is all about!

This year’s festival will feature over 25 comedians, handpicked from a staggering 190 submissions! These funny folks hail from all over—from New York City to Los Angeles—bringing their unique styles and humor to our beloved Scenic City. Donnie emphasized that the festival is known to showcase up-and-coming comedians, many of whom are on the brink of their big break in the comedy world.
