Triumphant Trump Reigns Supreme Again in Chattanooga Region
Chattanooga, TN – It seems the fans of President-elect Donald Trump are alive and well in the Greater Chattanooga area! For the third consecutive presidential election, Trump swept through every county in the region, painting them in shades of vibrant red. With the Republican supporters roaring louder than ever, it was evident that the Trump train is still on the tracks.
Voter Turnout Tells a Story
Let’s check out the numbers. In Hamilton County, Trump grabbed 56% of the votes, marking it as his lowest win percentage in the hangout. However, the excitement didn’t stop there. In a whopping eighteen other counties across Southeast Tennessee, Northwest Georgia, and Northeast Alabama, Trump cruised by with over 70% of the vote. Can you believe it? DeKalb County, Alabama, showed him the most love with a staggering 86% support! Hot on its tail were Bledsoe County, Tennessee, and Jackson County, Alabama, both landing in the high 85% range. Wow!
Surpassing Previous Percentages
It’s interesting to note that Trump didn’t just secure victories; he exceeded his past performances. He surpassed his 2020 percentages in all 19 counties and outdid almost all of his 2016 numbers. The only exceptions were Catoosa County, where he saw a minor decline, and Hamilton and Walker counties, where he tied with his former totals.
GOP Chair Spins a Tale
Scott Golden, chair of the Tennessee GOP, shared his thoughts on the results and was quick to point out that these numbers mirror a national trend, saying it reflects the shift from conservative Democrats to conservative Republicans. Golden noted that rural counties have been seeing voting percentages skyrocket into the 70s to 90s percentile for the past two decades. He compared this turnout to what happened in other states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, where the rural voter base lent their support heavily to Trump as well.
Democrats Left Reeling
On the flip side, Rachel Campbell, Hamilton County’s Democratic Party chair, was left feeling “shocked, appalled, and distressed.” She couldn’t wrap her head around how a county that’s nearly 45% Democratic could only claim one state legislator. Campbell pointed to gerrymandering as an issue, and while she feels like change is necessary, she stated simply, “we just keep fighting.”

Speaking of the voters, Lakesite resident Haskell Meadows, who has loyally backed Trump in the last three elections, expressed his satisfaction with the win. “People in this area really pay attention to his policies,” said Meadows. He emphasized that although some may not like Trump’s personality, they’re more focused on what he stands for regarding the economy and borders.
Conversely, Avondale’s Tonya Thompson, who voted for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, was brought to tears upon learning of Trump’s success. “Some people felt like they’re unprotected,” she explained. Thompson found it puzzling that Trump, given his past legal troubles, could still hold office.
Grundy County’s Big Win
Oh, and let’s not forget Grundy County, Tennessee, which saw the most striking growth for Trump, jumping from 76% in 2016 to an impressive 84% in 2024. Iva Michelle Russell, chair of the Grundy County GOP, emphasized the deep-rooted Christian values in the county and deemed Trump’s victory as a “beautiful day.” She remarked how the attempts on Trump’s life had brought the Republican base together like never before.
As Chattanooga digests the results of this election, there is no doubt the region remains a stronghold for Trump, amidst a nation deeply divided. With passionate supporters cheering or lamenting, one thing’s for sure: this political journey is far from over.
