The focus will be on manufacturing electrification products to meet the rising demand in technology and renewable energy sectors. ABB’s continued investment highlights its commitment to boosting local economies and infrastructure.
Senatobia, Mississippi and Selmer, Tennessee are buzzing with excitement as ABB, a global technology powerhouse, has just announced a whopping $120 million investment in their operations. This is fantastic news for the local communities, as it promises to create 250 new jobs and bolster the economy.
In Senatobia, ABB will be pouring $40 million into expanding its existing facility. This expansion is no small feat; it will effectively double the current footprint of the plant! With the expansion set to open in the second quarter of 2026, it is anticipated to create an impressive 200 new jobs, boosting the workforce at the facility to over 1,000 employees.
This facility will focus on producing electrification products such as circuit breakers, busway, and busplug products, which are essential components for power distribution. As ABB ramps up its production capacity, it will be well-positioned to meet the growing demand in key sectors, such as data centers and renewable energy microgrids. After all, these products are vital in powering the future, and ABB is ready to take on this challenge!
Over in Selmer, the excitement doesn’t stop! ABB isn’t just stopping with Senatobia; they’re also investing a staggering $80 million to build an impressive new 320,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility. This state-of-the-art plant is not only going to replace existing operations but will also increase production capacity by over 50%. That’s a big leap forward for the company!
The new facility in Selmer is projected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, and like its counterpart in Senatobia, it will be dedicated to manufacturing critical electrical distribution equipment. This will cater primarily to large-scale technology-driven facilities, supporting the surge in significant projects across multiple sectors.
So, what’s fueling this massive investment? According to ABB, there’s a growing demand for electrification technologies, driven by the rapid expansion of data centers and utilities. As the world becomes more reliant on technology and renewable energy solutions, companies like ABB are stepping in to ensure they are delivering the necessary infrastructure to support this boom.
ABB has not only made this announcement; they’ve been busy investing significantly in their U.S. operations over the past few years. In fact, they have poured in over $500 million since 2020 and don’t plan to slow down. Their latest ventures also include a $100 million facility in New Berlin, Wisconsin, and a $40 million site in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which is slated to open in April 2025.
With a U.S. revenue close to $9 billion in 2024—accounting for an impressive 27% of the company’s global revenue—ABB is clearly a mainstay in the American landscape. They have nearly 40 manufacturing and operational facilities across 20 states and employ around 17,000 people nationwide. Remarkably, about 75-80% of the products sold in the U.S. are manufactured domestically, showcasing ABB’s commitment to boosting local jobs and production.
Since 2010, ABB has invested over $14 billion in capacity expansion and mergers in the U.S., demonstrating their long-term faith in the American market. As we await the new developments in Senatobia and Selmer, it’s clear that the future is looking bright for both communities!
