All victims were promptly transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment. Another person involved in the accident reported no injuries.

The Series of Events

The police’s preliminary investigation has pieced together a series of events leading up to the tragic accident. According to the Chattanooga Police Department, a 36-year-old man driving a Chrysler 300 southbound on Hixson Pike apparently collided into the rear of a Ford Escape, driven by a 59-year-old man. The impact forced the Ford Escape to continue southbound, spin, and cross into the northbound lane.

After impacting the Ford, the Chrysler also crossed into the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with the Rivian 7FC, containing a 64-year-old male driver and a female passenger.

The roadway was subsequently blocked for three hours, allowing the police’s Traffic Unit to conduct a thorough investigation of the crash scene. Thankfully, despite the severity of the collision, there was no entrapment involved.
