Community in Arrington Pays Tribute to Beloved Alumna and Advocate

Arrington, Tennessee – The tight-knit community of Arrington is coming together in a heartfelt tribute to remember one of its most cherished residents, Elizabeth “Beth” Willingham, who passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2024, at the age of 66. Born in Chattanooga in 1958, Beth was known not only for her warm and caring nature but also for her tireless _advocacy for children in need_.

Humble Beginnings and Educational Journey

Beth’s journey began in Chattanooga, where she was raised by her parents, Thomas Willingham and Ray Long. After graduating from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, she dedicated her professional life to helping others. For many years, Beth worked as a registered ophthalmic assistant for Dr. Ira Long, where her commitment to care left a lasting impact on her colleagues and patients alike.

A Life Dedicated to Helping Children

But beyond her professional accomplishments, Beth was particularly passionate about volunteering with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Williamson County. Through this role, she became an unwavering advocate for children navigating the often complicated and daunting court system. She tirelessly worked to ensure that their voices were heard and their needs were met. Her commitment to this cause established her not just as an advocate but as a beacon of hope for many.

A Loving Mother and Grandmother

Family was incredibly important to Beth. She is survived by her son, Drewey Arthur Boykin, and his spouse Kaitlin, as well as her daughter, Ashlin Michelle Perrucci, and her partner, José. Beth’s legacy is also carried on by her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Collin, Addison, and Liam were the light of her life, and she cherished the moments spent with them, baking cookies and enjoying family gatherings filled with laughter and love.

A Multifaceted Passion

Friends and family members fondly remember Beth as a true motherly figure, someone who not only cared for her own family but extended that love to everyone around her. Cooking was one of her greatest joys, and her meals often brought loved ones together, creating memories that will last a lifetime. A fan of music, she filled her home with melodies that resonated with her spirit. Whether it was a rousing family sing-along or a quiet moment enjoying her favorite tunes, she infused her space with warmth and joy.

Community Support and Celebration of Life

As the community mourns the loss of this remarkable woman, plans for a celebration of her life are being organized. Friends and loved ones are encouraged to share their memories and come together to honor the legacy she leaves behind. Details regarding the celebration will be communicated at a later date, offering everyone a chance to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to go to CASA, a cause that was so close to Beth’s heart.

A Legacy of Love and Advocacy

The impact of Beth Willingham’s life will continue to resonate throughout Arrington and beyond. Her dedication to advocating on behalf of children and ensuring their well-being within the legal system was just one example of her remarkable spirit. As the community reflects on Beth’s incredible contributions and positive influence, it is clear that her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
