Exciting Art Exhibit to Open in Chattanooga This October

Chattanooga is buzzing with excitement this October as the In-Town Gallery prepares to showcase a captivating new art exhibit titled Cuttin’ Up. This phenomenal display features the unique sculptures of local artist Denice Bizot, known for her stunning metal artwork that captures the beauty of the cosmos. The opening reception for this show is set for Friday, October 4th, from 5 to 8 PM, and you won’t want to miss it!

About the Exhibit

Denice’s exhibition Cuttin’ Up is inspired by the awe-inspiring images of space captured by the renowned Hubble and James Webb telescopes. As you stroll through the gallery and check out her work, you can expect to see her signature blend of abstract design, beauty, and a sense of cosmic wonder.

Meet the Artist

Denice Bizot is not just any sculptor; she describes herself as an assemblage artist, a title that gives a peek into her creative process. “I think most people would view me as a sculptor, but I’ve come to think of myself as an assemblage artist,” she shares. “That fact is, someone or something created the materials I use. Iron created eons ago and mined from the earth becomes sheet steel. My inks, such as cobalt, are made from minerals that are also mined.” This perspective truly reflects her knack for gathering, assembling, and transmuting materials into art, allowing her to celebrate nature and the raw materials she uses.

Bizot’s Artistic Journey

With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Loyola University, Denice has made a significant mark in the Chattanooga arts scene. Her work isn’t limited to local galleries; it can also be found in public spaces across the city as well as in notable collections worldwide, including cities like Amsterdam, New York, Houston, New Orleans, and even Hattiesburg, MS. And to add a touch of glam, her art is even part of Catherine Zeta-Jones’ private collection!

Explore the Arts in Chattanooga

The Cuttin’ Up exhibit is not only an exciting highlight for the month; it’s also part of the newly launched Chattanooga Art Crawl. This citywide event encourages art lovers and community members alike to explore the rich tapestry of local art. Each month, participating galleries will host First Friday events showcasing a delightful assortment of exhibitions, installations, and creative endeavors that celebrate the local art scene.
