Chattanooga will transform into a food lover’s paradise this weekend as the Battle of Food Trucks event takes place at Camp Jordan. The event, scheduled for August 30 and 31, promises to bring together a diverse array of food trucks offering everything from gourmet burgers to exotic desserts.
El Taco Boss, a local favorite, will be one of the standout participants, boasting a menu that features mouthwatering street tacos and authentic Mexican cuisine. Truck owner, Maria Sanchez, says, “We’re excited to share our flavors with a larger audience. We hope everyone will enjoy our tacos as much as we love making them.”
Another highlight will be the Frazier Five & Dime, known for its playful take on classic comfort foods. Visitors can look forward to signature items such as pretzel bites paired with unique dipping sauces and a selection of artfully crafted small plates.
The event will span two days, starting at 11 a.m. and running until 9 p.m. each day. In addition to food, attendees can expect live music, family-friendly activities, and even a pickleball tournament—a nod to the city’s growing love for the sport.
Organizers have assured that there will be something for everyone. “It’s not just about the food, although that’s a huge part of it,” event coordinator Jane Thomas notes. “We want people to come out, have a good time, and experience a sense of community. This event is designed to bring people together over a mutual love for great food and good times.”
Camp Jordan provides a spacious and accessible venue for the event. Located just off I-75, it offers ample parking and accommodations for large crowds. Local officials point to the park’s amenities—including walking trails, sports fields, and picnic areas—as ideal for a family outing or a day-long adventure.
The food truck line-up, carefully curated, includes both local favorites and renowned out-of-town vendors. Attendees can look forward to sampling seasonal dishes and drinks that reflect the culinary creativity of various chefs. An emphasis is placed on diversity, ensuring that dietary preferences such as vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are readily available.
As with any major event, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to navigate parking and get the first taste of the offerings. Local bands are scheduled to perform, adding to the festival atmosphere with a variety of musical genres ranging from bluegrass to contemporary indie. Interactive games and activities for kids will ensure that even the youngest attendees are entertained.
To keep things environmentally friendly, the event will emphasize recycling and waste reduction initiatives. Food truck vendors are also encouraged to use biodegradable utensils and packaging to minimize environmental impact.
The Battle of Food Trucks represents more than just a culinary competition; it’s a celebration of the diversity and vibrancy of the Chattanooga food scene. Mark your calendars and bring your appetites for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend!
