On Monday, February 19, 2024, Chattanooga, Tennessee mourned the loss of one of its beloved citizens, Charita Beverly Hughley. Hughley, who was 67, passed away the previous day, on Sunday, February 18. A native of Chattanooga, she was born to James Hughley and the late Emma Ruth Griffin Hughley on April 13, 1956.
Known for her love of cooking and feeding others, Hughley enjoyed her role as a caregiver. She was a devoted member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church and had a rich, fulfilling life dedicated to serving other people. Her spirit of generosity and care left a profound impact on all those who knew her.
In addition to her father, she leaves behind a grief-stricken but proud family that includes two daughters, Ruthie M. Hughley and Charmin R. Adkins; two sons, Charles R. Adkins and Stephon L. Hughley; and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Janet E. Wordlaw (Michael) and Angela R. Hughley-Evans; and two brothers, Delford L. Hughley (Grace) and Steven M. Hugh
