Get ready, Chattanooga! The city is buzzing with anticipation as the second annual InterMission event approaches. On Wednesday, September 25th, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the Chattanooga Theatre Centre will transform into a vibrant carnival showcasing an eclectic mix of local talent. This event is all about celebrating the arts and the community that supports it.
This year’s InterMission is set to be nothing short of spectacular. Imagine being surrounded by classical musicians, blues artists, and even circus performers all in one place! Musicians like Sierra Maldonado, Rick Rushing III, and Matthew Downer will serenade audiences with their beautiful sounds. But the excitement doesn’t end there!
Guests can expect to witness captivating performances from The Pop-Up Project, featuring mesmerizing dancers, and see local artist Briah Gober create stunning live art right before their eyes. And let’s not forget about the dazzling Rising Action installation art – it’s sure to be a feast for the eyes!
Adding to the carnival atmosphere will be ringmaster Ryan Laskowski, who will introduce a thrilling lineup of daredevil acrobats and stilt walkers, including the talented Logan Goethe and Chrystal Parker. Their incredible performances are set to amaze the audience and remind us all of the magic of live entertainment!
And for those who enjoy a little light-hearted fun, local caricaturist Hartsyfartsy will be on hand to create quirky and memorable mementos of the night. Who wouldn’t want a fun cartoon capturing their festive spirit?
While enjoying the performances, attendees will also be part of a heartwarming ceremony that pays tribute to some truly inspiring individuals. This year, the Ruth Holmberg Arts Leadership Awards will honor art therapy pioneer Cam Busch, author Rita Lorraine Hubbard, the founder of Ballet Tennessee, Anna Baker-Van Cura, and photography advocates Olan and Norma Mills. Each of these remarkable honorees has made significant contributions to fostering the arts in Chattanooga, helping to put the city’s vibrant arts scene on the national map.
Since its launch in 1969, ArtsBuild has dedicated itself to supporting local arts organizations, programs, and educational opportunities. With over $79 million invested in various initiatives, ArtsBuild believes in the power of art to strengthen communities and enrich lives. All proceeds from the InterMission event will support these crucial efforts.
James McKissic, President of ArtsBuild, expressed his excitement by saying, “This promises to be a spectacular evening celebrating the impact that art and these talented individuals have had on our community. Their dedication and leadership have helped make our city what it is today.”
