Chattanooga Welcomes New Era with Text Request’s Acquisition by Commify

Chattanooga Celebrates Major Business Acquisition

Chattanooga is buzzing with excitement this week! It’s officially been announced that Text Request, the much-loved business text messaging platform that started right here in our city, has been acquired by Commify, a leading global messaging firm based in the U.K. This exciting merger is not just a big step for the growing tech scene in Chattanooga, but it also brings promising news for local employees and customers alike.

What This Means for Chattanooga

Ken Burke, the vice president of marketing at Text Request, shared a sense of optimism about what this acquisition means for the company. He assured us that Text Request will continue to operate from Chattanooga, cementing its role as a central hub for Commify’s expansion efforts into the U.S. market. Burke proudly stated, “This is good for employees. It’s good for customers, as we’ll only be able to serve them better — and it should be good for economics moving forward, too.”

When Commify decided to keep its roots planted in Chattanooga, it was a testament to the strong foundation that Text Request has built since its inception in 2014. Commify has expressed its commitment to empowering Text Request rather than changing it, which surely brings a sense of relief to the local workforce.

A Winning Formula

Founded by Brian Elrod, Jamey Elrod, and Rob Reagan, Text Request has had an impressive journey over the past decade. From helping customers connect through text messaging to being recognized multiple times on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies, they have certainly made their mark. Additionally, they were awarded the title of one of Chattanooga’s “best places to work” by Edge Magazine, which speaks volumes about the company’s culture and values.

Commify operates across several countries with more than 46,000 companies under its wing, sending out a staggering 5 billion messages annually. To date, the company has approximately 300 employees spreading their expertise across Europe, Australia, and the U.S. The acquisition means that they are adding even more talent to their ranks, and these additions are expected to boost local hiring significantly.

Looking Ahead

CEO Richard Hanscott of Commify couldn’t hide his enthusiasm regarding this partnership. “The U.S. market is an exciting and significant opportunity for Commify,” he mentioned, emphasizing the complementary nature of Text Request’s work with their existing U.S. business. This acquisition not only doubles their scale beyond $30 million in revenue but also strengthens their future in this competitive market.

Furthermore, Paul Burton, Chief Strategy Officer at Commify, revealed that the company has been closely monitoring Text Request for several years and has been consistently impressed by its growth. This acquisition marks a major milestone, being Commify’s largest to date, and elevates their team size to over 400 members, poised to generate more than $217 million in revenue.

A Bright Future on the Horizon

The future looks incredibly bright for both Text Request and its newly integrated family under Commify. Local employees can take heart knowing their jobs are safe, and customers can look forward to enhanced services. As Text Request further cements its position in the market and expands its capabilities, this acquisition stands as a celebration of growth and opportunity for Chattanooga.

So, let’s raise a toast to this exciting new chapter! While it’s a transition for the companies involved, it promises to bring great prospects for the employees and the city itself. With Chattanooga’s tech scene constantly evolving, who knows what groundbreaking development will take place next?
