Chattanooga Says Goodbye to a Culinary Star and Family Man

Chattanooga is mourning the loss of a beloved member of the community, Jeffrey David Terrell, who passed away on April 9, 2025, at the age of 55. Known for his remarkable culinary skills and an unwavering devotion to his family, Terrell left behind a legacy that will be remembered fondly by many.

Bravery in the Face of Adversity

Jeffrey was a true fighter, battling cancer with a strength that inspired those around him. Even through the toughest times, his spirit never wavered, showing his family and friends the importance of love and resilience. His journey through life was more than just a struggle with illness; it was painted with the vibrant colors of family, faith, and his passion for cooking.

A Life Rich in Experience

Born and raised in Chattanooga, Jeffrey was a proud graduate of Notre Dame High School, Class of 1987, where he not only excelled academically but also took to the field playing football. His love for service led him to serve in the United States Navy, from which he received an honorable discharge, showcasing his commitment to his country.

After his military service, Jeffrey sought to hone his culinary talents, attending Culinary School at St. John’s Community College in St. Augustine, Florida. His first professional kitchen role was at the renowned Cloisters in Sea Island, Georgia, where he began making a name for himself as a skilled chef. He later brought his culinary flair back to Chattanooga, working at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club and impressing patrons with his delicious creations. Most recently, he was part of the team at AAA Cooper, serving as a line-haul driver while continuing to share his love for food and family.

A Family Man Above All

Jeffrey was more than just a top-notch chef and dedicated worker; he was a devoted family man. He shared a beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Kristi Terrell, for over 23 wonderful years. Together, they raised two lovely children, son Taylor (Kristin) and daughter Corine, who were always at the heart of his life.

Being a grandparent brought Jeffrey immense joy. He cherished spending time with his five grandchildren: Harrison, Lucas, Elias, Phoebe, and Chloe, creating treasured memories during family gatherings and holidays. Jeffrey was also a lifelong member of the OLPH Catholic Church, where he was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus, living out his faith through service and community.

Passions Beyond Cooking

Outside the kitchen and family time, Jeffrey loved golfing adventures with his father and siblings, enjoying the thrill of the game and the warmth of shared laughter. His adventurous spirit also led him to enjoy deer hunting, often taking his children and grandson Harrison along, creating a bond that will never be forgotten. Family gatherings with his cousin, Liane, were a source of happiness and cherished stories.
