Chattanooga Celebrates Holiday Spirit with Navy League Christmas Party

Chattanooga was buzzing with festive cheer as the Greater Chattanooga Council of the Navy League of the U.S. held its Christmas Party and Annual Meeting at the lovely Walden Club. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, a perfect setting for friends, family, and dedicated community members to come together and celebrate the contributions of those who selflessly serve.

New Leadership Steers the Ship for 2025

During this jubilant gathering, excitement filled the room as the council held its annual elections to choose the new officers and directors for 2025. David Carter was appointed as the new President, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to the position. Alongside him, David Rausch takes the reins as Vice President, Terri Carter serves as Secretary, and Adam Thorn takes charge of the finances as Treasurer. The esteemed slate of leaders is rounded out by Waye Estrada as Chaplain, Jim Fields as Judge Advocate General (JAG), and Stacy Kehoe overseeing Youth Programs and Social Media. In a well-deserved recognition, Trey Johnson is now responsible for Veteran Affairs, and BJ Keepers steps in as a Director.

President David Carter expressed heartfelt gratitude for the trust placed in him, and he encouraged members to share their creative ideas on how to propel the Council forward. “Let’s work together to find innovative ways to make a difference,” he said warmly, igniting excitement for the year ahead!

A Celebration of Dedication and Service

As part of the event, there was a moving moment when five long-serving members received the prestigious President’s Lifetime Achievement Service Award for their tireless efforts over the years. Stacy Kehoe, the Programs Director, presented the awards, highlighting each recipient’s significant contributions not just to the Greater Chattanooga Navy League Council but also to the greater Chattanooga area and beyond.

Among the honorees were CDR Alden Perry, USN (ret), Carolene Grossnickle Perry, CAPT Billy Hewitt, USN (ret), Carol McCamish, and Dan Saieed, USA. While four individuals were celebrated at the Walden Club, one member—a testament to the enduring spirit of service—could not attend the dinner meeting, prompting a smaller gathering at a different date and location to honor them appropriately. Their combined decades of volunteer service have profoundly impacted the community, earning them this well-deserved recognition.

The President’s Lifetime Achievement Service Award was established by President George W. Bush in 2003 as a way to honor Americans dedicated to civic engagement and community service. It’s truly heartwarming to see such remarkable individuals recognized for their passion and commitment to bettering the world around them!
