Serious Injuries Reported in Commercial Fire in Chattanooga

Chattanooga, Tenn. — In a dramatic turn of events today, a commercial building fire broke out in east Chattanooga, leaving one man with significant injuries. The event unfolded around 12:30 PM in the 1700 block of North Orchard Knob Avenue, as the City of Chattanooga Fire Department, affectionately known as CFD, received an emergency call that sent their skilled fire teams into action.

A Rapid Response

Upon arrival, firefighters were greeted by a scene engulfed in chaos. Heavy smoke was billowing out from the eaves of the building, while flames could be seen venting through one of the windows. In moments like these, every second counts, and the dedicated fire crews sprang into action. With their trainings and expertise, they swiftly entered the building, focused on extinguishing the flames.

Finding the Trapped Victim

As firefighters battled the blaze, they discovered a tragic situation within the smoke and debris. A victim was trapped and covered, emphasizing the urgency of their mission. It was a critical moment when the firefighters were able to safely bring the individual outside. Their efforts didn’t stop there: once they got the victim out of harm’s way, they immediately began administering CPR.

What Caused the Fire?

At this time, the cause of the fire remains a mystery, as the CFD has reported that the investigation is still underway. The structure itself is a mixed-use building, containing a business office and a bedroom on the opposite side.
