Chattanooga residents, grab your coffee and settle in! There’s been a flurry of activity on the crime report front recently at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). Let’s break it down, because you definitely want to stay in the know!

Vandalism Alert!

On February 25, at 9:14 a.m., the Palmetto Place Apartments fell victim to a bit of vandalism. It all went down around 4:05 p.m. that same day, and while the case was eventually closed, it was referred to Student Conduct for further examination. Just another Wednesday in the world of student housing!

What’s That? A Larceny!

Later that day, at 5:01 p.m., parking lots became the scene for some not-so-funny business. A report of larceny from a motor vehicle in Lot 68 got everyone’s attention. This incident supposedly took place between 3:10 p.m. and 3:50 p.m., but guess what? The case was closed as unfounded, meaning the investigation didn’t find any evidence of wrongdoing. What a relief for those worrying about their rides!

Serious Business at West Campus

Fast forward to February 28; UTC’s West Campus Housing Complex experienced a more serious situation with reports of an aggravated burglary and simple assault. The timing? Between the wee hours of 2:01 a.m. and 2:06 a.m. Thankfully, this case also found its way to a close shortly afterward.

Drinking on Campus Complaints

As if that wasn’t enough, March 1 saw multiple liquor law violations at the West Campus Housing Complex at 12:06 a.m. Four individuals were cited for underage consumption of alcohol. Not the best way to start March, right? But hey, it’s all in the hands of Student Conduct now.

Warrant Served – Drugs and More!

March 1 took an even more intense turn when police served a warrant at the Stacy Town Center/Town Hall. Charles Flynn from Chattanooga made headlines when he was arrested and taken into custody during the operation. Charges included drug abuse violations, possession of paraphernalia, and an attempt to bribe a public servant. Talk about a dramatic day on campus!

Another Weekend, Another Incident

On March 2, the West Campus Housing Complex was in the spotlight once again with yet another report of underage possession of alcohol occurring at 2:44 a.m. Just like the previous liquor violations, this case was also closed with a judicial referral. Seems like some folks are struggling to keep the celebrations legal!

More Larcenies and Weapon Woes

Things didn’t calm down as we rolled into March 3. A new case of larceny was reported in Lot 61 at 12:00 p.m. This incident happened a few days earlier, between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thankfully, there were no identifiable suspects, and this case was also tucked away as a closed one.

And just when you thought it was over, another report came in that evening, showing a weapons law violation outside Lockmiller Apartments at 8:23 p.m. Isreal Levine from LaVergne, Tennessee, received a citation for this, closing another chapter on that busy day.

Peace at Last!

After a stretch of activity that kept everyone on their toes, it appears that March 5 brought some much-needed calm. No additional crimes or fires were reported. Phew! Maybe people are finally catching on to keeping things cool and safe.
