Chattanooga Partners with Family Justice Center to Support Domestic Violence Survivors This October

Chattanooga Shows Support for Domestic Violence Survivors This October

Chattanooga is gearing up for an important event this October, all in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Chattanooga Police Department, in collaboration with the Chattanooga Hamilton County Family Justice Center, is excited to announce a special event called “Partners In Hope.” This gathering aims to raise awareness about domestic violence and highlight the incredible work both organizations are doing to address this pressing issue in our community.

What to Expect at the “Partners In Hope” Event

The “Partners In Hope” event will take place on Thursday, starting at 9 a.m. at the Family Justice Center, located at 5705 Uptain Road. This event is designed to break the silence that often surrounds domestic violence, encouraging those who are affected to come forward and seek the help they deserve. It’s a chance for community members to come together and show their support for survivors and families affected by this distressing issue.

“Domestic violence is a serious issue that affects individuals and families in our community,” said John Chambers, the Police Chief of Chattanooga. He emphasized the importance of creating a safe space for conversations about domestic violence. “By partnering with the Family Justice Center, we aim to break the silence surrounding this issue and encourage those affected to seek help.”

Unity in Support of Survivors

Regina McDevitt, the Executive Director of the Family Justice Center, also shared her thoughts on the significance of this event. “As we observe Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we honor the strength and resilience of survivors while recognizing the critical role law enforcement plays as our partners in ensuring their safety,” she stated. McDevitt went on to express the collective aim of both organizations: “Together, we create a network of support and protection, sending a clear message that violence has no place in our communities.” She highlighted their commitment to not only providing help for survivors but also facilitating paths to justice, healing, and hope.

On another note, the YMCA, along with City of Chattanooga officials and community partners, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the new James A. Henry Community YMCA, now located at 3500 Dodds Ave. This new location represents a fresh start and increased opportunities for fitness and well-being in the area.

And for those looking for ways to give back, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga will be hosting the Run4Kids in Memory of Karen Lawrence on Saturday, October 12 at Chattanooga State, 4501 Amnicola Hwy. It promises to be a day full of community spirit and support.
