Things to Do In Chattanooga This Weekend: Honeybee Festival And The Chattanooga Market ‘Baketacular’

In Chattanooga, Tennessee, the summer season kicks off with a slew of exciting activities for locals and tourists alike, with the Honeybee Festival and Chattanooga Market’s “Baketacular” headlining the calendar.

Arts and Exhibitions

Local arts and culture enthusiasts can explore a variety of exhibitions. The Photographic Society of Chattanooga is extending its summer show at the Gallery at Blackwell, offering an array of works displayed by Society members for purchase. The exhibition will run through Aug. 2.

The Association for Visual Arts continues its members’ exhibition, “Drawings,” showcasing various mediums such as graphite, fiber, mixed media, and photography. Meanwhile, Scenic City Clay Arts, in partnership with the Association for Visual Arts, exhibits “Forces of Creativity” at the association’s gallery. This showcase features ceramic creations made by veteran and military family students.

Creative Arts Guild is concluding its exhibition, “ATL Imported: A Showcase of Atlanta Art,” which showcases artwork by residents of Georgia’s capital city. ClearStory Arts concludes its exhibition, “Boldly Taking Up Space: Southeast Scope,” displaying works by female and nonbinary artists across the Southeast.

Music and Concerts

Music lovers have a wide selection of concerts to attend. Songbirds are hosting their annual youth talent show, featuring young musicians, while Reflection Riding is hosting a Campfire Concert on Friday with The New Quintet performing.

On Saturday, the Riverfront Nights summer concert series continues at Ross’s Landing, featuring Lenox Hills opening and Strung Like a Horse as the main act. On Sunday, the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera will host a fundraiser, Bite of Spring, offering an afternoon of live music, food, and fun activities at The Rosecomb.

Out & About

One of the major attractions this weekend is the Honeybee Festival, happening on Saturday in downtown LaFayette, Georgia. This bee-themed event promises live music, crafts vendors, food booths, children’s activities, and more. On the same day, the Chattanooga River Market will open at the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza, featuring various vendors selling handmade art, crafts, and food.

Community Taking Action Against Prediabetes is organizing a 5K run/walk at the Tennessee Riverpark, while the Barking Legs Theater will host its Backyard Sale of the Century. The Lula Lake Land Trust will have its bimonthly open gate days at its core preserve, providing a scenic experience for nature enthusiasts.

Sports

For sports fans, the Chattanooga Football Club will have two home games at Finley Stadium over the weekend, promising an exciting time for football lovers.

Theater

Theater enthusiasts have plenty of stage productions to enjoy as well. Seed Theatre is presenting the U.S. premiere of Abigail Thorn’s “The Prince” at the Barking Legs Theater, while Scenic City Shakespeare concludes its double-feature performance of two comedies by William Shakespeare at the Sniteman Cabin at Greenway Farms.

Chattanooga Market ‘Baketacular’

Capping off the weekend, the Chattanooga Market will host its Market “Baketacular” event on Sunday. An array of vendors, local food trucks and live music will be on offer, with a special emphasis on baked goods.
