Chattanooga Family Remembers Beloved Matriarch Patty Harwood
Chattanooga, Tennessee, is mourning the loss of a cherished community member, Patricia “Patty” Harwood, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the age of 89. Patty was known for her warm smile, deep devotion to her family, and her substantial contributions to the local community.
Born on March 21, 1935, Patty was the daughter of the late Thomas Loyd Seitz and Ara Zoe Dell Seitz. Growing up in Chattanooga, she attended Charleston High School and later dedicated her life to being a devoted homemaker, caring for her family with love and compassion. Known for her faith, Patty was a member of the Eastern Star and practiced her Christian beliefs with sincerity. Her love didn’t stop at her family; she had a passion for genealogy, often researching her family history and sharing stories that connected generations. Patty also enjoyed reading, spending countless hours immersing herself in the pages of her favorite books, perhaps getting lost in stories that took her on adventures far beyond Chattanooga.
A Celebration of Life
The Harwood family invites the community to pay their respects and celebrate Patty’s life at her funeral service, which is set to take place at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 2 p.m. Friends can visit the family from 1–2 p.m. at the funeral home, which provides a time for loved ones to come together, share memories, and find comfort in one another’s presence. Following the service, interment will occur at Tyner Cemetery in Chattanooga, where Patty will be laid to rest among those who loved her.
