Chattanooga Gears Up for a Festive Week Ahead!
Hey, Chattanooga! Are you ready for some fun? With Thanksgiving just around the corner, there’s a lot happening in our lovely city that you won’t want to miss! From bonfires to free meals, and even some festive light displays to kick off the holiday spirit, this week has something special for everyone.
Bonfire and S’mores: Toasty Fun Awaits!
If you’re looking for a cozy evening out, join the Resident Hall Association (RHA) for a delightful S’mores Bonfire! Set for November 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the fire pit in Chamberlain Field, this sounds like the perfect way to unwind. RHA will have all the materials you need to roast those marshmallows and craft some delicious s’mores, plus there will be yard games to enjoy with friends. So grab your friends and make some tasty memories!
A Taste of Home for Students
Not everyone can twist their family’s arm to get a Thanksgiving feast, and that’s totally okay! Thankfully, the Veteran and Military Affairs and the Office of Student Outreach and Support feel your pain. They’re hosting Holiday 4 Heroes: a free pre-Thanksgiving “Taste of Home” Meal and Food Drop on November 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. outside of Hooper/Race Hall. You’ll be able to snag a free pre-made Thanksgiving meal, along with a bag filled with Thanksgiving essentials that can ease the holiday hustle. Plus, if you’re connected to the military, you’ll get a chance to spin the VMA prize wheel for a shot at great prizes, like a $50 Publix gift card. What’s not to love?
Healing Through Harmony: Art and Music
Feeling a bit overwhelmed? The Center of Wellbeing has got your back! On November 25 from 2 to 3 p.m., they’re putting together a Healing Through Harmony Meeting at the Mocs Recovery Lounge. This event focuses on using art as a therapeutic outlet to discuss mental health struggles—no musical knowledge required! Just bring your love for music and art, and participate in activities designed to help you unwind and express your feelings in a positive way.
Light Up Your Holiday Spirit!
To really get you in the mood for the season, why not swing by the Chattanooga Choo Choo for Noogalights? This year, for the first time, attendees can stroll through mesmerizing Christmas lights that dance to the beat of holiday music! Running daily from November 15 to December 31, 6-10 p.m., this event is perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to bask in the glow of the holidays. Adult tickets are just $20, kids aged 3-12 can get in for $12.50, and toddlers aged 3 or under can join the fun for free!
A Night of Laughter Awaits!
Finally, if you’re in the mood for some good laughs, don’t miss the Comedy Open Mic Night at The Comedy Catch! Set for November 20 from 7 to 9 p.m., it’s the perfect opportunity to support local comedians. Held at 29 E. Station Street, tickets are only $7. Whether you’re a comedy connoisseur or a casual viewer, it’s time to sit back, relax, and have a good chuckle!
Chattanooga definitely knows how to celebrate, and even though the skies might be cloudy in the morning—with a high of 67°F and winds blowing from the northwest—don’t worry! The sun will peek through by afternoon, making it a lovely day to enjoy all these fabulous events. As the temperature drops to a cozy 37°F later on, you can rest easy knowing that there’s a whirlwind of excitement right outside your door. So, gather your friends and family and dive into the fun this week!
