Chattanooga, Tennessee – Exciting activities lining up this week in the Chattanooga area include the celebration of Juneteenth, the Sangria on the Southside event, and BBQ Week. The list of enchanting encounters promises a week full of fun, heritage, and gastronomic experiences for everyone to enjoy.
This week’s highlight is the annual Juneteenth National Freedom Day Parade and Gala scheduled to happen on the 19th of June, the official date of Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a commemoration of the emancipation of people subjected to slavery in the United States. The celebration features food trucks, music, children’s activities, and a free screening of the documentary “Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom.” The parade, which begins from East M.L. King Boulevard, ends with a gala event at the Miller Park.
Making its mark on the 14th of June at the First Horizon Pavilion is the Sangria on the Southside event. This delightful fiesta celebrates La Paz Chattanooga’s 20th anniversary with live music, a Sangria contest, and showcases the best of Latin American cuisine and artistry.
For the gastronomes, the Chattanooga BBQ Week is something that cannot be missed. From June 10th to 16th, over a dozen participating restaurants across the region will offer mouth-watering BBQ specials. This week-long culinary event provides the perfect opportunity for food lovers to explore and relish the richness and diversity of Chattanooga’s local BBQ scene.
It’s also worth noting that two Chattanooga attractions, the Hunter Museum of American Art and the International Towing & Recovery Museum, feature in the list of Blue Star Museums this summer. Active-duty military personnel and their families, including the National Guard and Reserves, can enjoy free admission to these establishments as part of this promotion. The program, a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Defense Department, begins on Armed Forces Day and lasts till Labor Day on September 2nd.
Chattanooga is brimming with excitement this week, whether you are looking for cultural experiences, outdoor fun or culinary adventures. So gear up for a week filled with frolic, festivities, and fabulous food, ensuring that there is something for everyone in the city of Chattanooga.
