Chattanooga Jewish Film Series Makes a Comeback Amidst Growing Tensions

Chattanooga, TN

In a climate fraught with conflict, Chattanooga hosts the returning Jewish Film Series, an event highly anticipated by both film enthusiasts and those invested in Jewish history and culture. Slated for this month and next, productions hailing from Israel, Italy, and the United States are set to be screened both in person and virtually.

First Physical Screening Announced

A significant milestone for the film series, the first in-person screening is a nod towards a post-pandemic era of renewed cultural activities. Scheduled for Monday, June 10th, at 7 PM, it is set to occur at the Jewish Cultural Center, located at 5461 North Terrace Road. Prior to this public viewing, a smaller screening for sponsors of the series will take place on Wednesday.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga

This series is brought to Chattanooga through the efforts of the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga, with Ann Treadwell being a notable figure contributing to the event. The federation has consistently worked towards encouraging understanding and respect for Jewish heritage through varied cultural events like this film series.

A Culturally Rich Series

“Home”, a film by Ofer Aldobi, is a highlight feature in this edition of the series. The work spotlights actors Roy Nik and Yarden Toussia-Cohen in a captivating narrative that resonates deeply with Jewish values and traditions. Beyond their prime focus on Jewish themes, films within the series also venture into discussions about the broad human experiences of love, struggle, and triumph, making the event a culturally rich experience applicable on numerous levels.

Contribution to the Community

The Jewish Film Series has consistently played a significant role within Chattanooga’s cultural spectrum, sparking thought-provoking discussions and fostering a deeper understanding of Jewish histories and experiences amongst viewers. Beyond the cinematic immersion, the event holds a mirror to contemporary issues, encouraging conflict resolution, and weaving threads of unity within the culturally diverse Chattanooga community.
