Chattanooga Mayor Celebrates Library Day at Lookouts with Ceremonial First Pitch

Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly Throws Ceremonial First Pitch for Library Day at Lookouts

Chattanooga, Tenn. –

Mayor Tim Kelly had the privilege of throwing the ceremonial first pitch at the Lookouts game on August 18, 2024. This event was in honor of the **Lookouts** Library Day, a special occasion that brought together the community in celebration of the local library system.

The event offered a unique opportunity for residents to enjoy the game at no charge, provided they had a library card from the **Chattanooga Library**. Attendees with a valid library card were granted free entry, promoting both the baseball game and the use of the library’s resources. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of the library in the community and encourage more people to utilize its various offerings.

Moreover, the **Lookouts** have partnered with the Chattanooga Library to introduce a **Family Pass**. This pass allows admission to a Lookouts game for two adults and two children, again requiring a library card. The passes are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, emphasizing the incentive to participate early.

Mayor Kelly emphasized the significance of the library to the community in his remarks, “We try to be involved in everything as we can. The library’s an incredible asset for the whole community, so if you haven’t been to Chattanooga’s downtown library or any of the branch libraries, I would encourage you to go. There’s a lot of cool stuff in there other than books.”

For those who missed this opportunity, there’s another chance to attend a Lookouts game for free. The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 7:35 p.m. Mayor Kelly’s participation and the library’s involvement aim to foster a greater sense of community while promoting literacy and family activities.

The partnership between the Chattanooga Library and the Lookouts represents a meaningful collaboration, showcasing how different community entities can work together to provide enhanced experiences for residents. By offering free game entries tied to library engagement, both organizations encourage community participation and literacy.

As families and individuals explore the library, they can discover a broad array of resources beyond books, including events, workshops, and digital media. The library remains a cornerstone of community education and engagement, and initiatives like Library Day at the Lookouts underscore its ongoing relevance.

For more information on the Family Pass and upcoming events, residents are encouraged to visit the Chattanooga Library or check the Lookouts’ official announcements.

This initiative reflects a broader strategy of integrating community resources to create enjoyable and educational experiences, reinforcing the idea that libraries offer much more than just books. With ongoing collaborations like this, Chattanooga continues to build a stronger, more connected community.

Stay tuned for more updates on community events and initiatives that support local institutions and provide valuable opportunities for families and individuals alike. Whether you’re a baseball fan, a library enthusiast, or both, there’s always something exciting happening in Chattanooga.
