For six years now, we’ve been your go-to source for all things happening in our beautiful city. To mark the occasion, we’re taking a stroll down memory lane to revisit some of our readers’ favorite stories over the years. So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and let the nostalgia wash over you!

Back to 2018: Naming Cooper’s Alley

Way back in 2018, we kicked off a fun project that captured the hearts of many in Chattanooga: naming Cooper’s Alley. This hidden gem in downtown was on everyone’s lips, and we asked you to help us choose its permanent name. Some of the contenders included The 700, Kress Alley, and Market Alley. In the end, we settled on a name that truly embodies the spirit of our community, and Cooper’s Alley became an official favorite spot for all.

2019: A Stadium to Call Our Own

The excitement continued into 2019 with the announcement of a massive $125 million development slated for East Ridge. Not only were we getting a new stadium for the Chattanooga Red Wolves, but also a mixed-use space that promised to revitalize the area. When CHI Memorial Stadium opened its doors in 2020, it was a proud moment for fans as we celebrated with an exhilarating match against FC Tucson. Spoiler alert: we won!

2020: The Iconic Flying Saucer House

Signal Mountain. With its striking design straight out of a sci-fi movie, this quirky abode captured imaginations everywhere. Originally built in the 1970s by Curtis King, it’s had several owners through the years and continues to be a beloved landmark for locals and tourists alike. Who doesn’t love a little whimsical architecture?

2021: Major Developments in the Works

Among the highlights was the much-anticipated opening of Trader Joe’s right here in Chattanooga, the reveal of the exciting ONE Riverfront Plan, and the up-and-coming area known as The Bend. It was a year filled with promise and progress!

2022: The Curiosity of “Eric is Dead”

Eric is dead” popping up around town. A little digging revealed the intriguing story behind this artwork, and we contacted the artist responsible for the striking phrase. It was a fun exploration that sparked conversations throughout the community, reminding us that art can be mysterious and engaging in so many ways.

2023: Revamping the Chattanooga Choo Choo

Chattanooga Choo Choo. The hotel underwent a staggering $19 million renovation, now called The Hotel Chalet at The Choo Choo. With its chic upgrades and the added charm of restored Victorian train carriages for guests to enjoy, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking to experience the essence of Chattanooga.
