Chattanooga, Tenn. — An incident involving a shooting occurred in Chattanooga, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old man. According to an affidavit, the man shot a woman while she was in a car with her two children and her boyfriend.
Authorities reported that Chattanooga Police first responded to a shots fired call on Brainerd Road. Upon investigation, officers discovered the victim had been taken to Erlanger Hospital, where she was being treated for a gunshot wound to her back.
The report detailed that the woman’s boyfriend, who was driving the car at the time, informed the police that an orange Dodge Charger had pulled up next to their vehicle and threw a bottle at it. In response, the boyfriend sped off. However, the affidavit states that the suspect began shooting at the car as it drove away.
The boyfriend shared with the police that his girlfriend was seated in the middle of the back seat, flanked by her 10-month-old baby and her 10-year-old brother. He identified the shooter as someone known to him as “Jasho.” The affidavit mentions that the group of friends had been experiencing ongoing issues with this individual.
Further police investigations led to the identification and arrest of the suspect, 18-year-old Harrison Gonzalez. Gonzalez has been charged with attempted first-degree murder in relation to this case.
This incident underscores the ongoing concerns about gun violence and safety within communities. The quick response by the Chattanooga Police Department has been instrumental in apprehending the suspect and potentially preventing further harm.
Residents are reminded to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to gather more information.
