Marvin Lucious Menifee, a Chattanooga resident, was found guilty of criminally negligent homicide and aggravated robbery charges related to the 2021 homicide case of Alfred Pitmon by a jury on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Back in October 2021, Chattanooga’s local law enforcement discovered the lifeless body of Alfred Pitmon on 7th Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Police reports identify Menifee, who was 19 years old at the time, as the individual who fatally fired shots at Pitmon. Eyewitness accounts also indicate that several other individuals were present with Menifee during the killing. An interesting finding was Menifee’s cell phone, discovered in Pitmon’s backyard by the police.
A detective involved in the case pointed out Menifee’s multiple changes from his initial statement during the investigation. Leading to a cloud of suspicion, further supporting the case against him.
In April 2023, the Chattanooga police arrested Menifee in connection with another murder case. This case involved the tragic demise of Deountay Brown at his residence on Dodson Avenue. Menifee, along with two other individuals, face first-degree murder charges in this case. However, the case still awaits trial.
Following the conviction on two charges related to Alfred Pitmon’s homicide, Menifee is scheduled to appear before the court again on April 1. The court date likely pertains to the unresolved case involving Deountay Brown’s death.
The local community in Chattanooga has expressed mixed feelings of relief and concern following the announcement of Menifee’s conviction. As the news disseminated, locals expressed hopes for justice to be served for the victims of these tragic events. Community members continue to follow the developments in these cases keenly.
More details of the case will continue to emerge as Menifee’s scheduled court appearance unfolds.
