Chattanooga Community Honors Marine Veteran Charles Foston Honeycutt III in Heartfelt Farewell

Chattanooga Bids Farewell to Beloved Marine Veteran

Chattanooga, TN – The community of Chattanooga is coming together to celebrate the life of Charles Foston Honeycutt III, a proud Marine veteran who passed away on December 5, 2024. Known affectionately as Chucky, he was a devoted father, a respected soldier, and a cherished friend to many in North Georgia and the Chattanooga area.

A Life Well-Lived

Born on August 28, 1966, Chucky spent his early years growing up in the beautiful surroundings of the Smokey Mountains and attending the Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy. The great outdoors had a way of instilling a sense of adventure in him, but his adventurous spirit truly came to life when he enlisted in the Marines at the young age of twenty. Chucky was not just any Marine; he was a dedicated soldier who served as a Guard at the British Embassy and was notably present during Operation Desert Storm in Iraq. His love for the Marines and commitment to serving our country was a defining aspect of his character.

A Proud Father and Family Man

Chucky’s devotion did not stop at his military career. He was a proud father to two children: his son, Chase Honeycutt, and daughter, Ellie Honeycutt. The love he had for them was immeasurable, and he took immense pride in being their dad. He is survived by his beloved children as well as Pixie Honeycutt, the mother of his kids. He also leaves behind a loving family, including his siblings, Elaine Diddle, Darryl Weaver (and wife, Cindy), Lisa Simmons (and husband, Rick), Gina Sakich, and Donna Eskra. To top it off, Chucky was adored by a large circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Norma Jean McGuffin Weaver.

Remembering His Humor

The memory of Chucky’s humor and zest for life has left a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who knew him. As family and friends gather to pay their respects, they remember him not just as a Marine, but also as a man who filled the lives of many with laughter and joy.

Graveside Services

The community is invited to attend Chucky’s graveside services, which will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 16, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to arrive no earlier than 12:45 p.m. and to meet at the cemetery office. This ceremony will provide an opportunity for everyone to come together and honor his legacy.

As we remember Chucky’s life, we cherish the memories we have of him and honor the sacrifices he made for our freedom. Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and memories on the memorial page at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com.

Fond Farewells Continue in Chattanooga

Chattanooga is also mourning the loss of other notable residents. Michael Oliver Reese, only 33 years old, passed away in his Rossville home on Thanksgiving, November 28, 2024. And just days before, 73-year-old James Jackson Robinson III also left this world on December 4, leaving behind a long legacy as a teacher and counselor at Ringgold High School. Moreover, the community grieves the passing of Tamela Scoggins Leatherwood, known as Tammy, who made everyone’s lives a little brighter until she passed on December 5, 2024, at the age of 61.

As these individuals’ legacies join that of Charles Foston Honeycutt III, the city binds together in shared sorrow and fond remembrance, honoring those who have contributed so much to making our community special.
