Chattanooga Market Hosts Big Band Day Featuring Sweet Georgia Sound and Quilts of Valor Ceremony

Chattanooga Market Celebrates Big Band Day with Sweet Georgia Sound and Heartwarming Quilts of Valor

Chattanooga, get ready to swing into a fabulous day of music and heartfelt tributes as the Chattanooga Market brings back a beloved event this Sunday, November 10th! It’s Big Band Day, a day for music lovers and dancers alike to celebrate the sounds of the past with a lively twist.

Get Ready to Dance!

This Sunday, the vibrant Sweet Georgia Sound will take center stage, starting at 12:30 PM. Known for their toe-tapping tunes from the 30s and 40s, this incredible 20+ member band is sure to have everyone up on their feet. From exhilarating swing tunes to smooth ballroom classics, Sweet Georgia Sound has a repertoire that keeps the dance floor packed!

And here’s a fun fact: did you know a subset of this talented ensemble morphs into The Wurstbrats during the annual Chattanooga Oktoberfest? That’s right! So, whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just looking to enjoy some nostalgic tunes, this event has something for everyone.

Honoring Our Heroes

But that’s not all – at 1:30 PM, you can witness a truly special presentation: the Quilts of Valor. This moving ceremony honors several veterans who have been touched by war as they receive beautifully hand-crafted quilts. The mission behind these quilts is simple yet powerful: to “Cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.”

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of local Chattanooga Quilts, these quilts are made with love and respect for our servicemen and women. It’s a heartwarming tribute that adds a layer of meaning to Big Band Day, enriching the experience for all who attend.

Your Last Chance for Fall Finds!

Chattanooga Market has to offer at the First Horizon Pavilion. Don’t miss your chance to pick out the freshest fall produce and maybe even scout out some specialty items for the upcoming holiday season!

This is not only a time for grabbing your favorite seasonal ingredients, but also a perfect moment to place special food orders or even commission personalized gift items. The clock is ticking, and the opportunities to discover unique goodies before the market moves indoors are dwindling fast!

What Lies Ahead

Speaking of moving indoors, don’t forget that the popular Chattanooga Holiday Market will be setting up shop at the Chattanooga Convention Center on the first two weekends in December. It’s the perfect chance to find unique gifts and support local artisans while soaking in the festive spirit!

So mark your calendars for this Sunday, November 10th, and come on down to enjoy a day filled with music, dancing, warmth, and heartfelt appreciation for veterans. Big Band Day is not just an event; it’s a celebration of community, talent, and the brave men and women who have served our country.

Come out, enjoy the vibes, and make some unforgettable memories at the Chattanooga Market!
