Chattanooga Says Goodbye to Linda Ann Eaves Thomas

Chattanooga, Tennessee – The community of Chattanooga is in mourning as they remember the beloved Linda Ann Eaves Thomas, who passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, at the age of 84. Linda, a shining example of love and dedication, leaves behind a legacy shaped by her unwavering community involvement and cherished family ties.

A Life of Purpose and Service

Born on August 5, 1940, in the picturesque city of Chattanooga, Linda was raised by her devoted parents, Dennis J.R. Eaves and Regina H. Eaves. She graduated from Tyner High School— a milestone that marked the beginning of a life filled with achievements and devotion to her community.

Linda held a meaningful position as a hearing assistant with the Social Security Bureau of Hearings and Appeals, serving in both Chattanooga and Tupelo, Mississippi. Through her work, she touched countless lives, assisting individuals in navigating the complexities of Social Security services.

Faith and Community Engagement

Her faith was an integral part of her identity, and Linda was an active member of West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc, Mississippi. She wasn’t just a face in the crowd; she rolled up her sleeves and dove into various community efforts, aligning herself with organizations like The Daughters of the American Revolution and The Homemaker’s Club.

In addition to her local engagement, Linda was passionate about foreign missions, dedicating her time to projects that extended beyond her immediate community. Her kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand were felt far and wide, making her a beloved figure among friends and family alike.

A Passionate Homemaker

Outside of her community service, Linda had a flair for catering and decorating. Her skills brought joy to many gatherings, where her delicious food and exquisite decorations left lasting impressions. Reading was another of her favorite hobbies, often immersing herself in stories that sparked her imagination and broadened her perspectives.

Family Ties

Linda’s family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her loving son, David Keith Thomas, and his wife, Beverly. Linda also adored her grandchildren: Jonathan Christopher Thomas and Katherine Olivia Rhea, who have built lives of their own, creating even more connections within the family. She was also a proud great-grandmother to little Roy Henry Thomas.

Linda’s family circle included her dear sister, Denese Eaves Crowder, who resides in Chattanooga, TN. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Keith P. Thomas, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, as well as her sister, Karen Eaves Ware, and brother, David Larry Eaves.

Final Farewell

To honor Linda’s remarkable life and contributions, a funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Browning Funeral Home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at West Heights Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to pay their final respects.

Visitation hours for those wishing to express their condolences will be held on Saturday from 5 to 7 PM and prior to the funeral service on Sunday from 1 to 2 PM at Browning Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to support Foreign Missions at West Heights Baptist Church, located at 328 W. Oxford Street, Pontotoc, MS 38863.

Linda Ann Eaves Thomas will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
