Chattanooga Mourns the Loss of Beloved Community Members
Chattanooga, Tennessee, is feeling a profound sense of loss as the community bids farewell to several well-loved residents who recently passed away. Each of these individuals brought their own unique joy and warmth to the world, leaving behind many cherished memories for their families and friends.
Remembering Hilda Jane Brooks Bayer
First among those remembered is Hilda Jane Brooks Bayer, who peacefully departed this life on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 86. A proud graduate of City High School in 1956, Hilda was known for her kindness and her active participation in her local church communities, specifically St. Thadeus Episcopal and the Anglican Church of the Redeemer.
Sadly, Hilda leaves behind her loving husband, Michael Bayer, along with her daughter, Jane Walker, and a wonderful family, which includes four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her family is heartbroken over the loss, having previously faced the departures of her two sons, Anthony “Tony” Bayer and Andy Bayer.
A memorial service to honor Hilda’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Anglican Church of the Redeemer located at 104 McBrien Road in Chattanooga. Friends and family are invited to gather from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Those wishing to express condolences or share memories can visit Hilda’s online obituary to post tributes.
Celebrating the Life of Donna Hixson Hilton
Just a day later, on November 18, 2024, the community mourned the passing of Donna Hixson Hilton, who was 90 years old. Originally from Birchwood, TN, Donna made Chattanooga her home 68 years ago. Her unwavering spirit and contributions to her community are fondly remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Farewell to Blake Christian Turner
Tragically, on November 19, 2024, the vibrant life of Blake Christian Turner, 29, was cut short. Surrounded by family, Blake left this world, leaving behind a legacy of joy and passion that touched the hearts of all who crossed his path. His infectious spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Honoring Betty Land Campbell
Additionally, Betty Land Campbell, a remarkable 96-year-old from Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on November 17, 2024. Known for her warmth and wisdom, Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Raymond. Her life enriched those around her, and she is survived by a family that will continue to celebrate her legacy.
A Community in Mourning
Each of these individuals leaves behind a loving family and friends who will forever cherish the memories created together. Whether through Hilda’s kindness, Donna’s community spirit, Blake’s infectious joy, or Betty’s wise words, their lives had a profound impact in Chattanooga. These are the stories of love, loss, and the profound connection that these individuals created during their time here.
As the community prepares for upcoming memorial services, it is clear that the bonds of love and community are stronger than ever. In sharing memories and tributes, residents can celebrate the legacies of Hilda, Donna, Blake, and Betty, ensuring that their spirits forever remain a part of the fabric of Chattanooga.
