Sandy made a significant impact at SunTrust/ANB before retiring from his role as Senior Vice President at First Volunteer Bank. Under his leadership, he earned numerous accolades, topping the charts as a top producer and being recognized as the Chattanooga Mortgage Banker of the Year in 2007 by the Chattanooga Mortgage Bankers Association. Such accomplishments speak volumes about his commitment and expertise in the field.

A Man of Many Interests

Outside of his career, Sandy was a man of diverse interests and hobbies. He wasn’t just a banking wiz; he was also a passionate automotive enthusiast, with a particular fondness for sports cars. His prized possessions included his 911 and Acura NSX, which showcased his love for speed and style.

When he wasn’t revving the engines, Sandy was diving into the pages of books. His love for reading was matched only by his gift for conversation. Whether it was discussing the latest political event, fixing household items, or exploring new music, he was always ready to engage with anyone willing to chat. His diverse music tastes ranged across all genres, proving that he was just as comfortable enjoying classical melodies as he was rock anthems.

A Friend to All

Those who knew Sandy will remember him as the life of the party. His booming laughter echoed through gatherings, and he had a knack for making everyone feel welcomed, no matter the occasion. Familial bonds were also important to Sandy. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Betty Williams Rogers, and his sister, Kay Hodges Downs. Sandy also cherished his two Golden Retrievers, Samantha Rose and Maxx, who surely brought him joy over the years. Now, he leaves behind his loyal Golden Retriever, Houston, and his spirited Shih Tzu, Topaz, who will surely miss their companion.

Remembering Sandy

Sandy’s survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Sandra Michelle Hodges, who stood by him through thick and thin, his friend M.L. Drazich, and many friends who were enriched by his warm spirit and infectious humor. A celebration of his life is in the works, with family and friends eager to honor a man whose legacy will continue to shine bright in their hearts.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. The community will undoubtedly come together to remember Sandy, a man who lived life to the fullest and cherished every moment with those around him.
