Chattanooga Man Pleads Guilty in Cold-Blooded Murder Case

CHATTANOOGA MAN ADMITS TO MURDER
In a groundbreaking update, a Chattanooga man confessed to the horrifying act of leaving another man for dead in a car, pleading guilty to the charge of second-degree murder. The 56-year-old suspect, Michael Lamont Orr, confessed to his crime, following which he was sentenced to a 17-year prison term last week.
SAMUEL MOORE’S TRAGIC DEMISE
The atrocious crime came to light back in June 2022 when the severely decomposed body of Samuel Moore, Jr. was discovered in the driver’s seat of a parked Mitsubishi Mirage on Boynton Avenue. The police officers arrived on scene to a disturbing sight. According to the affidavit, Moore’s body was discovered in “the later stages of decomposition.”
A surveillance video recording showed a car arriving at the location on Boynton Avenue and positioning itself in the exact spot where Moore’s body was later found.
THE TURNING POINT IN INVESTIGATION
During the thorough enquiry, a key witness stepped forward. As stated in the affidavit, the witness was speaking with Moore over the phone at the time of the incident. He could hear another man in the background engaging in a verbal altercation with Moore.
Subsequently, Michael Lamont Orr admitted that he was indeed present inside the car when Moore was consuming narcotics. He confessed to stepping out of the car, leaving Moore behind.
THE VERDICT DECREED AND CHARGES DROPPED
Initially, Orr was indicted with first-degree murder. However, after accepting his guilt, Orr’s charges were changed to second-degree murder. In juxtaposition, Orr’s other charges related to robbery and prison contraband were abated in exchange for the guilty plea.
The judge came to the final verdict last week, sentencing Orr to serve 17 years in prison for his heinous act, marking an end to this ghastly case.
