He then went on to pursue his passion for law enforcement, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1976. His commitment to service was evident as he also attended Cleveland State Community College to further his law enforcement education.

After fulfilling his duties in the United States Army Reserves, Sonny proudly served in the United States Air Force. Celebrating a Life Well-Lived
A Celebration of Sonny’s life is set to take place at 12:30 p.m. on February 5 at the East Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home, where Chaplain Brent Baughman will officiate the service. Family and friends are welcome to gather before the service starts at 10:30 a.m. For those wishing to honor Sonny’s military service, interment will occur at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, complete with military honors from the US Air Force Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 95.
