Chattanooga Celebrates October with Exciting Events and Activities

Chattanooga’s October Events: Fun and Festivities Await!

Hey there, Chattanooga! As we dive into the season of crisp air and colorful leaves, October is shaping up to be an exciting month with a slew of events designed to entertain, engage, and bring our community together. With sunny skies forecasted for today with a lovely high of 83°F, it’s the perfect opportunity to soak up some warmth while participating in local happenings. So, grab your calendar because you won’t want to miss these fantastic events!

Fresh Food Alert: Scrappy’s Market

Mark your calendars for October 23 from noon to 2 p.m. because our beloved Mocs Dining, along with Scrappy’s Cupboard and the Office of Student Outreach and Support, is hosting Scrappy’s Market at Vine Street. This is a golden opportunity for students to snag some free produce like celery, potatoes, oranges, lemons, squash, and other delightful goodies!

Food not only nourishes the body but can also bring a smile to your face, especially when it’s free! So swing by, fill your bags with fresh fruits and veggies, and maybe even share a recipe or two while you’re at it.

Star Gazing: Join the Star Party

If you’re looking for something a bit cosmic, head over to the Clarence T. Jones Observatory on October 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. for a night of star-gazing fun at the Star Party. The evening promises to be a memorable one, featuring a planetarium show that rotates every half hour! It’s a fantastic way to learn about the latest in astronomical research, and our very own Chemistry and Physics department will be in attendance, ready to shed some light on the wonders of the universe.

The Society of Physics Students, Pre-Medical Society, and UTC Pre-Health Professions Advising have teamed up to ensure this event is both educational and enjoyable. Put on your favorite cozy jacket and prepare to be amazed as you explore the night sky!

Smash Your Stress Away

Need to blow off some steam after midterms? Then get ready for the Smashing Pumpkins event on October 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. over at Chamberlain Field. Hosted by the Residence Hall Association, this event will feature pumpkins – and trust us, a lot of them – flying through the air as students take a much-needed break from their studies. It’s a fun and messy way to relieve some of that pent-up stress!

International Tea Time: Make New Connections

On October 29 from 3 to 4 p.m., students can join the Center for Global Education for some delightful social time at the International Tea Time event. Located in Lupton’s 1st-floor lobby, this gathering invites everyone to mingle, enjoy games, sip on tea, and munch on cookies. Whether you want to meet new friends or just catch up with your buddies, it promises to be a warm and friendly atmosphere!

Get Ready for Halloween: Bar Crawl Extravaganza

And last but not least, for those looking to celebrate Halloween in style, the 7th Annual Halloween Bar Crawl is happening on October 26. Grab your most creative friends, as the grand prize for the costume contest is a whopping $1,000! With tickets priced at about $14 which includes drinks, special Halloween swag, and exclusive bar specials, it’s a fantastic deal for a night out! Just make sure you’re 21 or older and ready to have a hauntingly good time!

This October, with captivating events around every corner, Chattanooga is the place to be. So gather your friends, enjoy the sunny weather, and make some memories this fall!
