Best and Worst Restaurant Inspection Reports in the Chattanooga Area for the Week Ending June 25, 2024

Chattanooga Spotlights Top-Performing and Needs-Improvement Restaurants

In line with the ongoing auditing of food service establishments, the Hamilton County, Catoosa County, and Walker County health departments recently released their restaurant inspection reports for the week ending June 25, 2024. The departments inspect restaurants biannually and score them on a 100-point scale.

The reports reflect original scores and do not account for on-the-spot adjustments which may potentially lead to upward remarks. The health departments aim to ensure public health safety by observing strict standards regarding food handling, hygiene, and cleanliness in restaurants. Restaurants that fail to score above 70 are required to take corrective action and will be re-inspected.

Restaurant Scores Revealed

For the week ending June 25, there were no reported failures. Among the food establishments, the ones with the lowest scores were Typhoon of Tokyo at 3953 Dayton Blvd. with an 85 and Sanctuary located at 4097 Cloud Springs Road, Ringgold, Ga. with an 87. Another, Park Place Restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., scored an 88.

Meanwhile, restaurants which secured a score of 90 included Five Star Food Service in Ringgold, Ga., and Ms. Tee’s BBQ and Soul Food on 2215 Crutchfield St.

Top-Performers for this Week

Many restaurants excelled in their inspections scoring well above the 90 mark. Both Boneyard’s kitchen and bar at 26 Station St., Bad Wraps INCarcerated, a mobile dining restaurant, and Moma’s One Stop Shop at 3431 Alton Park Blvd. achieved a perfect score of 100.

Other top-performing restaurants included La Altena at 314 W. Main St., Olive Garden at 2200 Hamilton Place Blvd., and Tacos Chattanooga Morales at 3511 Clio Ave., all receiving scores of 100.

Navigating the Health and Safety Measures

The scores offer consumers knowledge about the sanitation and hygiene standards upheld by local eateries. A score between 70 and 100 denotes adherence to regulations and a dedicated commitment to safety protocols and hygiene standards. A score below 70 denotes non-compliance with the health code, which requires immediate attention from the establishment for necessary corrections.

For health-related complaints about restaurants, consumers are asked to reach out to the respective health department: Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department at 423-209-8110, Catoosa County Health Department at 706-406-2030, or Walker County Health Department at 706-639-2574.

Aiding Consumer Choice

These restaurant inspection reports serve as one of many tools consumers can use to make informed decisions when choosing where to dine. The commitment to transparency and consumer safety empowers customers while holding restaurants accountable for upholding public health regulations.
