Tragic Shooting in Chattanooga Claims Life of Teen

In a devastating incident that has shaken the community, a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed outside his home in Chattanooga on Sunday, December 1. The young victim, identified as Daremon Waldon, was reportedly acting to defend his mother during a domestic situation when he was struck by gunfire.

The Incident

Emergency services were called to the scene at around noon, responding to reports of the shooting at the 6600 block of Green Road. Upon arrival, Hamilton County EMS discovered Waldon with life-threatening injuries. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

The Investigation

As the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) begins to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy, they have launched a manhunt for a suspect identified as Dejuan Rowland. The 26-year-old is wanted for first-degree murder and is considered to be armed and dangerous. He is described as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing between 145 to 155 pounds.

According to preliminary findings, Waldon was inside the family home at the time of the shooting, with Rowland allegedly outside when the shots were fired. The exact motive behind the incident remains unclear, and further investigations are ongoing.

Local residents are reeling from the shock of this violence in their neighborhood. Rhonda Waldon, the victim’s mother, expressed her heartbreak, stating that her son was simply trying to protect her during a domestic dispute. “My son did nothing wrong,” she said. “He was just trying to help me.”
