Things to do in the Chattanooga Area This Weekend Include Summerween, Food Festivals

Chattanooga. This weekend, Chattanooga area residents have numerous exciting activities to look forward to, including Summerween, numerous food festivals, film screenings, and the kick-off of Fourth of July festivities. Arts & Exhibitions

Photographic Society of Chattanooga continues its summer show at the Gallery at Blackwell, featuring the works of its members available for purchase. The exhibition, which has been extended, will now run through Aug. 23.

Meanwhile, the Chattanooga Public Library’s downtown branch continues to host the exhibit “Path to the Presidency,” showcasing presidential campaign memorabilia from the last century. This exhibit will be on display until Aug. 2.

Comedy Shows

Comedy fans will enjoy performances by Leanne Morgan at the Memorial Auditorium from Thursday through Sunday. Tickets range from $50-$82, with Friday’s show being sold out.

Ambush Improv will present a true crime-themed show on Thursday at the Barking Legs Theater.

Film Festivals

The Chattanooga Film Festival, which continues online through Friday. Single film screenings cost $15.

Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors will host a Movie in a Park event on Saturday at Warner Park Pool, featuring a screening of the sports comedy-drama “Champions.”

Music and Dance Events

Several music shows are planned through the weekend at Barrelhouse Ballroom.

The summer concert series Nightfall, which includes live music, food trucks, an art market and more, will continue on Friday at the Miller Park.

On Saturday, watch the R.S. Thomas Memorial Singing at Smyrna Baptist Church, featuring congregational singing of newest gospel songs and some special performances.

Sports Events

The Chattanooga Steam, the city’s professional fastpitch team, is playing in the Collegiate League Series from Wednesday through Saturday.

The Chattanooga Lookouts will play against the Rocket City Trash Pandas from Wednesday through Sunday, with various game promotions and activities for fans.

Festivals and Celebrations

The Summerween celebration will take place on Saturday at Patten Square, featuring live performances, costume contests, and a watermelon carving contest among other activities.

Chattanooga Market will host the Red, White, and Blueberries event on Sunday with blueberry pie eating contests, and the Chatta Town Tasting Festival, featuring a showcase of various cuisines, will occur at Miller Park.
