Chattanooga – The highly anticipated Chattanooga Vegan Chef Challenge has come to a delicious conclusion, with the city naming this year’s top vegan chefs. The month-long challenge, aimed at promoting vegan cuisine, saw chefs from various local restaurants showcase their talents and creativity.
“Vegans want more options, and restaurants want more customers—making the challenge a win-win,” shared Sarah Hyden, one of the event organizers. The Challenge encouraged Chattanooga residents to dine at participating restaurants throughout July and vote for their favorite chefs and dishes. The response was overwhelming, with over 100 people casting their votes, including “super voters” who dined at three or more venues.
After tallying the votes, Monkey Town Brewing emerged victorious, taking home the 1st place award. The 2nd place honor was awarded to Bluegrass Grill, while Southern Squeeze secured the 3rd place position.
Apart from the overall winners, specialized awards were also given in several delectable categories:
Former chef Alex Bury emphasized, “If a group of friends is planning a dinner out on the town, and one of them is vegan, the entire group will skip a restaurant without good vegan options.” She pointed out that this challenge not only supports local chefs but also helps restaurants expand their menus to cater to a growing vegan community.
