Chattanooga Gears Up for the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Chattanooga is buzzing with excitement as the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer’s approaches. Set for Saturday at Coolidge Park, this walking event is more than just a stroll through the park—it’s a heartfelt gathering aimed at raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research and support.

A Day of Honor and Memory

Participants on Walk Day will honor those affected by this devastating disease during a special Promise Garden ceremony. This touching event serves as a mission-focused experience, showing support and solidarity in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Each walker will carry a flower in the garden, and these flowers will be of various colors. Each color symbolizes a personal connection to the disease, allowing participants to express their experiences and stories in a beautiful and meaningful way.

The day will start bright and early, with registration opening at 8 a.m. Be sure to arrive on time so you can grab your walking gear and choose your flower. The Promise Garden opening ceremony kicks off at 9 a.m., making it an essential part of the journey. After the ceremony, participants will embark on the walk, adding their footsteps to a growing movement striving to end Alzheimer’s.

Understanding the Impact of Alzheimer’s

Did you know that more than 129,000 Tennesseans are currently living with Alzheimer’s and dementia? Sadly, this disease not only affects the individuals diagnosed but also has a significant impact on their families and friends. An estimated 369,000 caregivers are providing unpaid support, giving much of their time and energy to care for loved ones battling this challenging illness. Events like the Walk to End Alzheimer’s are vital for raising awareness about this crisis and offering support to those who need it.

Job Fair Supporting Chattanooga’s Homeless Population

CHATT Foundation is hosting a job fair aimed specifically at the city’s homeless population. Scheduled for Thursday from 9-11:30 a.m., this fair will take place at the foundation’s Community Center, located at 727 E. 11th St.

At this job fair, participants will have the opportunity to connect with prospective employers and learn about available job opportunities helping them to become self-sufficient. In these challenging times, initiatives like this offer hope and support, empowering individuals to find meaningful employment.

Goodwill Offers Hiring Events

If looking for a job is on the agenda, you’ll want to know about the hiring events being organized by Goodwill. Their newly-expanded Opportunity Center in East Brainerd will be hosting two hiring events—one on Thursday, Oct. 31, and another on Thursday, Nov. 14. Both events run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offer a chance for job seekers to explore a variety of career options.
