Residents and visitors of Chattanooga, get ready for a weekend packed with fun and celebration! The city is buzzing with excitement as two major events are set to take place this weekend – the Three Sisters Bluegrass Festival and the Chattanooga Pride Festival. But before you hit the road, it’s important to know about the road closures and restrictions that will keep our streets busy.
The Three Sisters Bluegrass Festival will kick off on Friday and run through Saturday. This lively festival promises to bring the sweet sounds of bluegrass to our beautiful waterfront area. To ensure a smooth experience for attendees, several roads will be closed or restricted from 7 a.m. on Friday until 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Big trucks, you’ll need to reroute! All tractor-trailer traffic will be restricted at W MLK Blvd and must detour via Market Street and Aquarium Way.
On Sunday, the celebrations continue with the Chattanooga Pride Parade, which is set to start at 11:30 a.m.. This vibrant parade highlights the city’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Roads will start closing at 11 a.m. and remain closed until around 12:30 p.m.. Here’s what to watch for:
Parade-goers will disperse at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Aquarium Way, so plan accordingly!
If you’re looking for some local flavor, don’t miss the Chattanooga Market this Sunday! Reggie White Blvd will be closed between W 19th Street and the Skate Park access road every Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through November 24.
Chattanooga is always evolving, and some construction projects are underway this weekend too. Campbell Street will remain closed for a sewer main replacement until October 11. Detours are in place via New York Avenue for southbound traffic and Wilder Street for northbound traffic.
Also, 8th Street will be closed between Broad Street and Market Street on Friday for a crane lift, with plans for the road to reopen before the evening rush hour.
Looking ahead, the much-anticipated resurfacing of Frazier Avenue will begin on October 14 and take about four days. Expect lane maintenance and some occasional full closures of adjoining streets as they work.
On a community note, don’t forget that the Signal Mountain Fire and Police Departments are hosting a free Car Seat Safety Check on October 12, aimed at keeping our little ones safe on the road. Join them at Pruett’s Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to ensure that your car seats are installed correctly.
Let’s embrace this energetic weekend, Chattanooga! Mark your calendars, plan your routes, and don’t forget to enjoy all the festivities while staying safe and informed. Happy celebrating!
