Exciting Weekend Ahead in Chattanooga!

Hey Chattanooga! Get ready for a fun-filled weekend as our city gears up for some fantastic events that are sure to keep us entertained. With everything from paddle races to charity walks, there’s something for everyone!

Chattajack 31 Paddle Race

First up, we have the Chattajack 31, an annual paddle race that’s always a highlight for water sports enthusiasts. Taking place on Friday, October 25th through Saturday, October 26th, Riverfront Parkway between Power Alley and Chestnut Street will be temporarily closed to accommodate this thrilling event. So if you’re planning to be in that area, keep in mind that detours will be in place.

Tractor-trailers, in particular, will not be able to access Riverfront Parkway and should use W MLK Blvd and Chestnut Street as a detour route. It’s going to be a busy time, but the excitement of watching paddleboarders and kayakers race against each other is definitely worth it!

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Speaking of important events, don’t forget about the Walk to End Alzheimer’s happening on Saturday, October 26th from 6 AM to 1 PM. This meaningful walk helps raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. A couple of streets will be closed to ensure the safety of our participants.

Specifically, the new bike lanes on Frazier Ave between Market Street and Walnut Street will be closed, and the right, northbound lane of Market Street between E 1st Street and Frazier Avenue will also be affected. Let’s come together to support this important cause!

Nightmare On Houston Street

Later that same Saturday, get ready for some spooky fun at Nightmare On Houston Street! Sponsored by The Bitter Alibi, Houston Street between Flynn Street and E MLK Blvd will be closed from 2 PM until midnight. This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to enjoy some Halloween-themed festivities and maybe even encounter a few ghosts and ghouls in our local streets!

Chattanooga Market

Last but not least, mark your calendars for the Chattanooga Market taking place on Sunday, October 27th from 6 AM until 6 PM. Reggie White Blvd will be closed between W 19th Street and the Skate Park access road during this time. This beloved gathering features local vendors, artists, and musicians, providing a fantastic way to shop, eat, and support our amazing local community.

City Council Meeting Upcoming

Lastly, our City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday. The meeting will kick off with a call to order by Chairman Henderson, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation led by Vice-Chair Hill. If you’re interested in local matters, this is a great chance to get involved and hear what’s going on in our community!

As we enjoy this jam-packed weekend, let’s remember to stay safe while having fun. Whether you’re paddling your way down the river, walking for a cause, enjoying eerie fun on Houston Street, or exploring the Chattanooga Market, there’s a little bit of everything to brighten up your weekend!

Have a great time, Chattanooga! And don’t forget to share your experiences with friends and family. We’re all in this community together!
