Chattanooga Announces Weekend Road Closures for Local Events

The Department of Transportation in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has issued an advisory of scheduled road closures ahead of the upcoming weekend events. It has encouraged citizens and visitors to take the listed closures into account when planning their weekend.

Nightfall Concert Series Closures

Starting Friday, May 24, the city kicks off its popular Nightfall concert series. CDOT has announced that specific roads and intersections will be closed every Friday from 4 p.m. till midnight, spanning May 24 to August 30. The affected areas include Cherry Street at E MLK Blvd, Martin Luther King Blvd between Market Street and Lindsay Street, and a two-section closure on Georgia Ave.

Riverfront Nights and Chattanooga Football Club Matches affecting Traffic

On Saturday, May 25, as Riverfront Nights and the Chattanooga Football Club home match commence, a new round of closures will be in effect. From noon until 10:30 p.m, Chattanooga Department of Transportation will close Riverfront Parkway between Chestnut Street and Power Alley. Furthermore, significant restrictions will be placed on vehicular traffic, especially for trucks over 2 axles.

Chattanooga Market Street Food Festival Road Closures

Additionally, the city’s beloved Chattanooga Market Street Food Festival will also cause closures. The roads will be blocked from Saturday, May 25, starting at 8 AM and will remain closed throughout Sunday, May 26 until 6 PM.

Chattanooga Chase

On the following Monday, May 27, the annual Chattanooga Chase will further affect downtown traffic. Selected roads will be closed from 5:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Participating runners will share rights-of-way with minimal traffic on certain courses between 8 AM and 10 AM.
