The Chattery Gears Up for Adult Spelling Bee Fundraiser
As the summer sunshine brightens Chattanooga, local non-profit organization, The Chattery, is rolling out a summer-themed get-together that combines education with entertainment— an Adult Spelling Bee. Set for August 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Chattery’s southside location, this unique event is aimed at raising funds for the organization’s mission to build an engaging learning community.
A Fun-filled Spectacle
The fun and frolic of this summer fundraiser comes with an innovative framework. Teams, consisting of three members each, can register for $75, while spectators are welcome to join the excitement for just $15. The game plan is laid out in three rounds where teams will garner points, and the top two high scorers will proceed to the final round. Here, they will compete in a nail-biting, single error elimination match to establish the ultimate Spelling Bee champions.
Spicing Up the Spelling Bee
However, it does not stop there. The event is set to offer additional excitement for spectators as well. Attendees can purchase “enhancements” on-site to aid their favorite participants with perks such as an extra 10 seconds to brainstorm or a second chance to spell a tricky word again.
Buzzworthy Refreshments
Throughout the spelling bee, a cash bar will operate, offering a special menu of bee-themed beverages. Whether you prefer alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, the bar has got you covered. What’s more, spelling bee participants will be rewarded with a small discount at the bar, adding further to the evening’s appeal.
A Crowning Glory
To top it all off, the triumphant team will receive the grand prize, a gift basket chock-full of goodies like local products and gift cards to The Chattery. Thus, from the onset to the grand finale, fun will be sprinkled throughout the course of the event.

Adding another layer of interest to the event, Ray Bassett of WUTC’s Scenic Roots, has been appointed as the “pronouncer” for the event, ensuring that the words are clearly stated for all participants. The announcement of the judges is expected soon.
